Fun Mosaic Art

 

I had my first encounter of Mosaic art at my friend's place in Bukit Timah Complex. My first attempt of a simple sunflower coaster (or so I thought) took 4 hours to complete.

Did it left me feeling like a limp noodle? Yeah~

         Did it left me feeling like Picasso crossover Van Goth? Hell yeah!

                  Did it make me wanna make more mosaic art? Absolutely..!!

In fact I went back another time to complete another coaster and some photo frames. This shop is a labour of love for Lady Boss cause she quit her job to start this business. How many people can do that, and do it with some measure of success? Her passion for the art is obvious and very contagious! The tile bar itself is already oh, so tempting. Makes you wanna bury your hand in it and run the tiles through your fingers. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes. You can create any picture that you can imagine and they offer courses to let you immortalized your imagination at your leisure.

 

If that seems over ambitious and you just want to give it a try, there are pre-pack little mosaic projects that you can do at very affordable prices. It's very simple to do, even a child (old enough to know tiles are not food) can do it.They also make very good gifts.

 

 

It took me half an hour to do a photo frame. Instant gratification and the finish product makes me feel like a pro. Buoyed by the sense of acomplishment I proceeded to do another few frames for the Lady Boss to use as samples in her exhibition.

 

Besides photo frames, you can also do cute magnets, but you need sand grouting for them which is provided in the pack. Another great gift idea or even making them for yourself.

 

If you are ready to move on from these amateur projects, you can mosaic anything with a hard surface, yes even the toilet seat. Popular items include notebooks, jewellery case readily available in the shop. Real pros do chairs, piggy banks, figurines among other stuff. Notebooks are especially popular valentine gifts with the guys. Yes, guys can also do mosaic art and it's not sissy. Just ask Gaudi. It's not hard to make and it's personalize. Girls love personalize gift.
